Transient Recovery Voltage (TRV) Study

Red Eléctrica de España (Spain)
AC System Studies

We conducted a 345 kV series reactor transient recovery voltage (TRV) study for Red Eléctrica de España. Series reactors (while not common) are sometimes required on high voltage transmission lines for fault current limiting, as well as transient stability improvement purposes. Series reactors present a challenging situation with regards to the circuit breaker TRV. Since series reactor installations are not common, each situation must be carefully evaluated considering the location of breakers, capacitance-coupled voltage transformers (CCVTs) and other main station equipment. We have expertise performing these types of TRV studies.
