Series 1

Title: Applications of PSCAD for Transient Studies
Date: September 30 – October 1, 2019
Time: 9:00 am -5:00 pm

Course Description:
The course will cover the fundamental phenomena applicable to the electromagnetic transients and focus on practical studies to identify transient impacts on power system equipment. A number of application areas such as switching transients, lightning transients, faults, breaker TRV and transformer energizing (inrush) as well as other power system topics will be discussed with practical examples serving to illustrate the subject. Course attendees will be able to experiment with the case studies in an interactive hands-on workshop environment using the PSCAD Simulation software.

Cost: $1000 AUD

Series 2

Title: PSCAD Workshop - Renewable Integration studies
Date: October 2 – 4, 2019
Time: 9:00 am -5:00 pm

Course Description:
This Couse will focus on studies related to integration of renewable generation. Specifically, wind and Solar PV related studies will be a focus. The course topics will include a discussion and simulation illustration of inverter operation and control concepts, representing the AC network for a full impact study and performing a full impact study. Application of STATCOMs and synchronous condensers as a mitigation measure for poor system performance will be discussed with practical tutorial examples. Other topics that will be discussed include sub synchronous resonance, torsional interactions and  power quality. A brief discussion on PSCAD features that support full impact studies will also be included on the last day of the workshop. The course attendees will be able to experiment with the case studies in an interactive hands-on workshop environment using the PSCAD Simulation software.
